How It Works
A Signage Channel is a channel type in Appspace that supports digital signage playback. When you create a Signage Channel, you choose whether the channel uses a Fullscreen or Multizone content workflow.
A Fullscreen Signage Channel displays one content area at a time. Use a Fullscreen Signage Channel when you want content such as cards, images, or videos to occupy the full screen.
A Multizone Signage Channel displays multiple content areas in the same layout. Use a Multizone Signage Channel when different content should appear in separate zones, such as a main content area and a sidebar.
Note: Signage Channels were introduced in 2603.1.0.
Advanced Channels will automatically transition to Multizone Signage Channels with existing functionality and configuration intact.
Fullscreen and Multizone Channels
When you create a Signage Channel, select one of the available content workflows:
- Fullscreen: Creates a Fullscreen Signage Channel with one full-screen content area.
- Multizone: Creates a Multizone Signage Channel from a layout template with multiple content zones.
Fullscreen Signage Channels are best for simple signage experiences where one piece of content plays across the entire display. Multizone Signage Channels are best for displays that need multiple sections, such as announcements, news, weather, schedules, images, or widgets shown at the same time.
What You Can Do with Signage Channels
After you create a Signage Channel, you can use the channel tabs to manage its content and configuration.
- Edit: Add and manage content in the channel. In Multizone Signage Channels, you can manage layouts, add content to each zone, and configure widgets.
- Schedule: Manage layout schedules for Multizone Signage Channels when layout scheduling is enabled.
- Actions: Configure channel actions for Multizone Signage Channels only.
- Preview: Review how the channel appears before publishing.
- Publish: Publish the channel to supported destinations, including devices and web.
- Settings: Configure general channel details, permissions, approvals, and properties.
Signage Channel Settings and Permissions
Signage Channel settings control the channel details, workflow, resolution, syncing, scheduling, permissions, approvals, and custom properties.
- Publishers: Have Manage Sign permissions and can manage the channel, configure settings, publish content, approve changes, and delete the channel.
- Editors: Have Manage Content permissions and can add, delete, and manage content in the channel.
- Schedulers: Have Manage Schedule permissions and can manage scheduling when scheduling permissions are available.
Widget permissions are configured from each individual widget, not from the channel Permissions tab.
