Publish a Signage Channel to Devices

Learn how to publish a Signage Channel in Appspace to devices for digital signage playback. Use the Publish tab to add devices, register devices, review publish status, and manage where the channel plays.

What’s in this article:

 

Prerequisites

 

  • You must be a Publisher for the selected location, channel, or channel group, or have an administrator role that allows you to publish channels.
  • Create a Fullscreen Signage Channel or Multizone Signage Channel before publishing.
  • Preview the channel before publishing it to devices.
  • Register the devices you want to publish to, or confirm that the devices are already available in Appspace.

 

Open the Publish Tab

 

  1. Select Channels from the Appspace menu.
  2. Open the Signage Channel you want to publish.
  3. Select the Publish tab.

The publishing page opens with the available publishing destinations.

 

Publish to Devices

 

Use Devices to publish the Signage Channel to registered devices, or to all devices in a selected location and its sub-locations.

  1. Select Devices.
  2. Click + Add.

The Add Devices dialog appears.

  1. To publish to all devices in the selected location and its sub-locations, select Publish to location and sub-locations.
  2. To publish to specific devices, click Find devices.

The Find devices dialog appears.

  1. Search or filter the device list to find the devices you want to publish to.
  2. Select the checkbox for each device or location you want to add.
  3. Click Add.

The selected devices are added to the Add Devices dialog.

  1. Review the selected devices.
  2. Click Add.

The selected publishing assignment is added to the channel.

Note: When Publish to location and sub-locations is selected, all devices in the selected location and its sub-locations are targeted for publishing.

 

Register a Device

 

If the device is not available in the device list, register the device before publishing the Signage Channel to it.

  1. Select Devices.
  2. Click Register Device.

The Register New Device dialog appears.

  1. Enter the registration code shown on the device splash screen.
  2. Enter a device name in the Name field.
  3. Select the device location from the Location menu.
  4. Select the channel selection mode from the Channel Selection Mode menu.
  5. Confirm that the Signage Channel is selected in the Select a channel field.
  6. Click Register.

The device is registered and associated with the selected Signage Channel.

Review Publish Status

 

Use the device list to confirm where the Signage Channel is published.

  • Device: Shows the device or location name and device status.
  • Details: Shows device or location information, such as PWA, Building, or number of devices.
  • Mode: Shows the playback mode, such as Autoplay/Browse, when available.

If the channel is published to a location and its sub-locations, the publishing assignment targets all devices in that location hierarchy. Use the available unpublish option to remove that publishing assignment.

Note: A device must be online and correctly registered before it can reliably receive and play published content.

 

Unpublish from a Device or Location

 

Remove a device or location assignment when you no longer want the Signage Channel to play on that device or location.

  1. Select the Publish tab.
  2. Select Devices.
  3. Locate the device or location assignment you want to remove.
  4. Open the more options menu for the assignment.
  5. Select Remove.

A confirmation dialog appears.

  1. Click Remove.

The Signage Channel is unpublished from the selected device or location assignment.

Note: Removing a location assignment unpublishes the Signage Channel from that location target. If the assignment targets a location and sub-locations, the Signage Channel is removed from that location hierarchy.

 

Publish to Web

 

The Web destination appears in the Publish tab when web publishing is available for the channel.

  1. Select Web.
  2. Configure the available web publishing options.
  3. Click Save, if prompted.

The Signage Channel is published to the configured web destination.
