Configure Signage Channel settings in Appspace to manage channel details, permissions, approvals, and properties. Use settings to control who can manage a channel, whether editor changes require approval, and which custom properties apply to the channel.

For: Communicators and IT Administrators --- Signage Channel Settings

What’s in this article:

Prerequisites

  • You must be a Publisher for the selected location, channel, or channel group, or have an administrator role that allows you to manage channel settings.
  • Editors can add, delete, and manage content in channels, but they cannot configure channel settings.
  • Create a Fullscreen Signage Channel or Multizone Signage Channel before configuring settings.
  • Confirm who should manage the channel and whether editor changes require approval.

Open Signage Channel Settings

  1. Select Channels from the Appspace menu.
  2. Open the Signage Channel you want to configure.
  3. Select the Settings tab.

The channel settings page opens with the available settings sections.

Configure General Settings

Use General settings to manage the basic details, workflow, resolution, syncing, scheduling, and scripting options for the Signage Channel.

  • Name: The channel name shown in the Channels list and channel header.
  • Description: Optional details that describe the channel purpose.
  • Channel Group: The channel group assigned to the channel.
  • Tags: Tags assigned to the channel.
  • Location: The location where the channel is available.
  • Content Workflow: The workflow used by the channel. You can switch between Fullscreen and Multizone.
  • Resolution: The display resolution and orientation used by the channel. You can change the resolution after the channel is created.
  • Enable Auto-Syncing: Automatically syncs the latest application updates and changes to devices. You can also manage auto-syncing from the channel editing page.
  • Layout Scheduling: Controls whether different layouts can play at specific times. When enabled, a dedicated Schedule tab appears for the channel. This option is available for Multizone Signage Channels.
  • Scripting: Controls whether scripting is enabled for the channel. This option is available for Multizone Signage Channels.
  1. Select General.
  2. Update the fields you want to change.
  3. Select Fullscreen or Multizone from the Content Workflow menu to change the channel workflow.
  4. Select a different option from the Resolution menu to change the display resolution and orientation.
  5. Enable or disable Enable Auto-Syncing, if needed.
  6. For Multizone Signage Channels, enable or disable Layout Scheduling or Scripting.
  7. Follow the confirmation prompt if you change the content workflow, enable auto-syncing, or enable layout scheduling.
  8. Click Save.

The updated general settings are applied to the channel.

Important: Changing the Content Workflow can affect channel content and configuration. Switching to Multizone enables advanced layout editing, scheduling, and scripting. Switching to Fullscreen attempts to move compatible content to the fullscreen zone, but some configurations may be lost. When prompted, choose whether to Merge Content or Delete Content from non-primary zones.

Note: When Enable Auto-Syncing is enabled, all devices assigned to the channel automatically receive the latest application updates and changes.

Configure Permissions

Use Permissions settings to control who can manage the Signage Channel, manage content, or manage schedules.

  • Publishers: Publishers have Manage Sign permissions. They can manage the channel, configure settings, publish content, approve changes, and delete the channel.
  • Editors: Editors have Manage Content permissions. They can add, delete, and manage content in the channel. Editors cannot configure channel settings.
  • Schedulers: Schedulers have Manage Schedule permissions. They can schedule content in channels. This field appears for Multizone Signage Channels when layout scheduling is enabled.
  • Inherited publisher permissions: Users may inherit publisher access from a location-level assignment.

The Publisher role for one or more locations is assigned by an Account Owner or Location Admin. If a user is a Publisher for multiple locations, the user has the same channel management permissions for all channels within those locations.

  1. Select Permissions.
  2. Add or remove users from the Publishers field.
  3. Add or remove users from the Editors field.
  4. For Multizone Signage Channels with layout scheduling enabled, add or remove users from the Schedulers field.
  5. Click Save.

The updated permissions apply to the selected channel.

Note: The Schedulers field appears when layout scheduling is enabled for a Multizone Signage Channel.

Note: Widget permissions are configured from the individual widget, not from the channel Permissions tab.

Note: Users with inherited publisher permissions may appear in the permissions summary even if they are not added directly to the channel.

Configure Approvals

Use Approvals settings to require publisher approval before editor changes are applied to the channel.

  1. Select Approvals.
  2. Turn on Require Approvals.
  3. Select the actions that require publisher approval for editors.
  4. Click Save.

When approvals are enabled, selected editor actions require approval from a publisher.

You can require approval for these editor actions:

  • Adding content
  • Removing content
  • Enabling / disabling content
  • Changing content playout properties
  • Changing content sequence

Configure Properties

Use Properties settings to add custom key and value pairs to the Signage Channel.

  1. Select Properties.
  2. Click + Add.
  3. Enter the property key in the Key field.
  4. Enter the property value in the Value field.
  5. Click Save.

The property is added to the channel.

Note: Select View Inherited Properties to review properties inherited by the channel.

Delete a Signage Channel

Delete a Signage Channel when it is no longer needed.

  1. Select General.
  2. Click Delete Channel.
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

The Signage Channel is deleted.

Important: Deleting a Signage Channel permanently removes the channel. Confirm that the channel is no longer published or needed before deleting it.
