Create a Fullscreen Signage Channel

Learn how to create a Fullscreen Signage Channel in Appspace for digital signage playback. A Fullscreen Signage Channel displays one content item at a time across the full screen.

Prerequisites

 

  • You must be a Publisher for the selected location, channel, or channel group, or have another role that allows you to create and manage channels.
  • Prepare the content you want to add to the channel, such as cards, images, or videos.
  • Confirm the screen orientation you want to use for the channel.

 

Create a Fullscreen Signage Channel

 

  1. Select Channels from the Appspace menu.
  2. Click + Create.
  3. Select Signage Channel.

The Create a Signage Channel dialog appears.

  1. Select Fullscreen.
  2. Enter a name in the Name field.
  3. Select the channel orientation from the Orientation menu.
  4. Click Create.

The Fullscreen Signage Channel opens on the Edit tab.

 

Add Content to the Channel

 

Use the + Add menu to add content to the Fullscreen Signage Channel.

  1. Select the Edit tab.
  2. Click + Add.
  3. Select one of the available options.
  • Create card: Create a new card for the channel.
  • Upload media: Upload media from your device.
  • Generate media: Generate media for the channel.
  • Select from library: Add existing content from the library.
  • Link source: Link content from a supported source.

The selected or created content appears in the channel content list.

 

Manage Channel Content

 

Use the Edit tab to review and manage the content in the Fullscreen Signage Channel.

  • Use the drag handle to reorder content in the list.
  • Use the checkbox to select content for available bulk actions.
  • Use the playout properties for a content item to configure duration, scheduling, tag rules, transition, aspect ratio, and frequency restrictions.
  • Use the more options menu for a content item to edit, move, disable, or remove the item.
  • Use Sync now to manually sync the channel when automatic syncing is off.
  • Use Enable Auto-Sync to turn on automatic syncing for the channel.
  • Use the default playout properties control to configure default playout behavior and enable playlist scheduling.
Action Description
Edit Opens the selected content item for editing.
Move to bottom Moves the selected content item to the bottom of the content list.
Disable Disables the selected content item without removing it from the channel.
Remove Removes the selected content item from the channel.

 

Configure Content Playout Properties

 

Use Playout Properties to configure scheduling, tag rules, and display behavior for an individual content item in a Fullscreen Signage Channel.

  1. Select the Edit tab.
  2. Locate the content item you want to configure.
  3. Click the playout properties shown for the content item.

The Playout Properties panel appears.

  1. Review or update the Content Duration.
  2. Select the Start Date and Start Time, if the content item should start playing at a specific date and time.
  3. Select the End Date and End Time, if the content item should stop playing at a specific date and time.
  4. Configure Dayparting, if the content item should play only on selected days or during specific time ranges.
  5. Click Add Tag Rules if you want to apply tag rules to the content item.
  6. Select the Transition option.
  7. Select the Aspect Ratio option.
  8. Select any Frequency restrictions, if needed.
  9. Click Save.

The playout properties are applied to the selected content item.

Note: Content item scheduling in Playout Properties controls when the selected item can play. Channel scheduling controls when schedules play in the Fullscreen Signage Channel.

 

Add Tag Rules to a Content Item

 

Use Tag Rules in the content item Playout Properties panel to control where an individual content item can play.

  1. Select the Edit tab.
  2. Locate the content item you want to configure.
  3. Click the playout properties shown for the content item.
  4. Click Add Tag Rules.

The Create Tag Rules page opens.

  1. Select the query type from the query menu.
  2. Select Simple Query to build a query from selected devices, groups, or locations.
  3. Select Rule-Based Targeting to build a dynamic query from device properties and attributes.

If you select Simple Query, add the devices, groups, or locations that should match the tag rule.

  1. Click Add.
  2. Search for and select the devices, groups, or locations you want to include.
  3. Click Add.

The selected devices, groups, or locations are added to the query.

If you select Rule-Based Targeting, configure the rule criteria.

  1. Select an attribute, such as Location, Device Group, Tag, or Device.
  2. Select the operator, such as Contains or Not Contains.
  3. Enter or select the value.
  4. Select whether the criteria should use AND or OR logic.
  5. Click + Add Criteria to add another criterion, if needed.
  6. Select Devices to review the devices that match the query.
  7. Click Apply.

The tag rules are applied to the content item.

Note: The Devices section is a proof check. It shows the devices that match the query so you can confirm the rule targets the expected devices before applying it.

 

Manage Channel Scheduling

 

Use Default Channel Playout Properties to enable playlist scheduling for a Fullscreen Signage Channel. Playlist scheduling mode allows you to create multiple playlists and schedule them for specific dates and times.

  1. Select the Edit tab.
  2. Click the default playout properties control.

The Default Channel Playout Properties panel appears.

  1. Review or update the Default Transition.
  2. Review or update the Default Aspect Ratio.
  3. Review or update the Default Content Duration.
  4. Review or update the Default Content Audio.
  5. Turn on Enable Playlist Scheduling.
  6. Click Save.

The Fullscreen Signage Channel switches to playlist scheduling mode.

Note: Playlist scheduling mode allows you to create multiple playlists and schedule them for specific dates and times.

Note: The Default Schedule remains available in schedule mode. Custom schedules appear as additional rows on the timeline. 

Note: When Exclusive Schedule is enabled, the schedule is the only schedule that plays during its configured time period and overrides all other schedules.

 

Preview the Channel

 

  1. Select the Preview tab.
  2. Select the display resolution from the resolution menu.
  3. Review the channel preview.

The preview shows how the Fullscreen Signage Channel will appear on a display.

 

Next Steps

 

After you create and preview the channel, publish it to devices or web from the Publish tab. You can also update channel details, permissions, approvals, and properties from the Settings tab.
