Create an Insights dashboard in Appspace to organize and display data using widget templates, custom widgets, and configurable collections. After creating a dashboard, add widgets and configure collections for the required reporting needs.

This article outlines how to create an Insights dashboard, add widgets, configure collections, and save the dashboard configuration.

 


Prerequisites

  • Access to Insights in the Appspace console.

 


Create an Insights Dashboard

  1. Log in to the Appspace console.
  2. Click the ☰ Appspace menu.
  3. Click Insights under Admin.
  4. Click + Add.
  5. Enter a name for the dashboard in the Create new dashboard dialog.
  6. Click Create.

The new dashboard opens in Insights.

 


Create a Widget

  1. Click Create Widget to open the Choose Widget Templates page.
  2. Locate a widget template using one of the following options:
    • Select a template category from the left panel.
    • Enter a template name in the Search templates field.
  3. Select the required widget template.
  4. Click Add Selected.

Add a Custom Widget

  1. Click Add Custom Widget to display the Add Chart panel on the right.
  2. Enter a name for the custom widget in the Title field.
  3. Enter a description in the Description field.
  4. Select one of the following Preferred Column Span options:
    • 1 Column
    • 2 Columns
    • 3 Columns
  5. Click Add to open the Query Builder.
  6. In Data Source, select one of the following options:
    • Analytics — Query historical event data and tracked metrics.
    • Assistant — Use an AI assistant to retrieve and summarize data from a natural-language prompt.
  7. If Analytics is selected, configure the query:
    • Select the required date range, and then click Apply.
    • Click Add Event.
    • In the Events field, search for and select the required event.
    • To add another event, click the copy icon or click Add Event.
    • To remove an event, click the delete icon.
    • Click Add Filter to filter the event data.
    • In Filters, select the required property and enter the desired value. Click the delete icon to remove a filter.
    • Click Add Group By, and then select the required key and label. Click the delete icon to remove a group.
    • In Results, set the required limit.
    • In Sort, select Ascending or Descending.
    • In Show By, select one of the following options:
      • Unique Users — Displays the number of unique users who executed the selected events.
      • Total Events — Displays the total number of selected events executed.
    • Select one of the following visualization types:
      • Bar
      • Donut
      • Heatmap
      • Leaderboard
      • Line
      • Multi Line
      • Pie
      • Stacked Bar
  8. If Assistant is selected, configure the assistant query:
    • In Select Assistant, select an AI assistant to process the query.
    • In the Prompt field, describe the required data in natural language.
  9. Under Execution, select one of the following Run as options:
    • Viewer — Runs as the currently logged-in user.
    • Owner — Runs as the widget creator.
  10. Configure Cache max age, if required.
  11. Configure Auto refresh expiry, if required.
  12. Click Apply.

 


Configure a Collection

  1. In the dashboard editor, click Untitled Collection to display the Collection Properties panel on the right.
  2. Enter a name for the collection in the Title field.
  3. Select one of the following Collection Type options:
    • Chart Grid
    • Stats Grid
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Add content based on the selected collection type:
    • For a Chart Grid, click + Add Chart.
    • For a Stats Grid, click + Add Stat.
  6. Click + Create Collection to add another collection to the dashboard, if required.
  7. Click Save to save the dashboard configuration.
