Learn how to manage a Remote Control widget in a Multizone Signage Channel. This article is for Communicators who map remote key presses to channel actions. After you read this article, you can add the widget, set number grouping, and map buttons to actions.

Prerequisites

You must be a Publisher for the selected location, channel, or channel group, or have another role that allows you to manage the channel.

Create a Multizone Signage Channel with at least one layout and one zone. See Create a Multizone Signage Channel.
Add a Remote Control Widget
Add Remote Control to a zone from the channel Edit tab. Follow the Add Widgets to a Zone steps in Create a Multizone Signage Channel, then select Remote Control from New widgets.
The widget appears in the content list for the selected zone.
Configure Remote Control Settings
Number grouping settings are on the layout editor Edit tab, in the Properties accordion.

Select Channels from the Appspace menu.

Open the Multizone Signage Channel.

Select the Edit tab.

Select the layout that contains the Remote Control widget.

Select Edit from the layout more options menu.

Select the Remote Control widget.

Select the Edit tab.

Expand Properties.
-
Set the fields you need.

Click Save on the layout editor header.

Use the other Edit accordions for placement and style:

General — Name, Size, Position, Opacity, Animation In, and Animation Out.

Appearance — Background color, background image, border color, thickness, corner radius, and margins.

Code — Widget GUID and Custom CSS.
The Permissions tab lists Publishers and Editors.
Tip: To open the layout editor from the channel Edit tab, select Edit from the layout more options menu, or click the + button on the widget and select Open editor.
Map Remote Buttons
The Content tab is a locked sheet named remotecontrol. The first row is BUTTON and IR-CODE. Each following row is one button. Enter the IR code for that button in the IR-CODE cell.

Open the layout editor and select the Remote Control widget.

Select the Content tab.

Enter an IR code in the IR-CODE cell for each button you want to use.

Click Save on the layout editor header.

Use Remote Control Events
On the Actions tab, set the source to this Remote Control widget and choose an event from the list below. Remote Control has key events and no widget-specific methods. Build the action in Configure Signage Channel Widget Actions.
Number buttons on press exposes Numbers. Command on toggle exposes Commands. The other events in this list do not expose a payload.

Note: Help button on press, Show ip button on press, and power button on press appear in the Actions event list. They are not rows on the Content sheet. Number buttons on press and Command on toggle are also events only.
