Description
There are several kinds of QR codes that you may encounter in the Appspace app. While one type helps you register your device and another helps you check in as a visitor, there are two space reservation QR codes that work differently within our platform.
Space Reservation QR Codes
Resource QR codes
- These show on the resource within the Appspace admin console, on the room booking card on a panel, or they can be printed out:
-
- When a user scans the QR code, it opens our employee app to that resource and allows an authenticated premium user to book that resource immediately (assuming it's available). As long as the resource exists in Appspace, the QR code will not change.

Resource QR codes

Resource QR codes were an initiative tied to BYOD (bring your own device) and touchless experiences, whereby, much like a boarding pass, you'd present the QR code for your reservation on your phone to be scanned by a scanner device and effectively check you into your reservation, meaning you'd already completed any requirements/checkpoints, etc., and your booking is in a "check-in" state.
In order to leverage this scanner device, it's strictly tied to a device running the Appspace app and leveraging an integrated camera, such as an iPad, PC, or tablet, etc. Additionally, a device task must be run on said device that would enable the camera to "listen" for a QR code, much like the visitor management card. The visitor management card checks for a code for a visitor reservation, but the mechanism to leverage a space reservation "reservation" QR code requires the hardware component described above. As such, this will not work by scanning it with your phone, as its code is intended to trigger a check-in tied to the booking via API.
We do not currently suggest utilizing this QR code type and instead recommend sticking to the resource QR code. -
