Summary

To update your BrightSign devices, you'll need to create a device task using the direct download link for the latest Appspace app.

Prerequisites

  • You must have Device Tasks enabled in your Admin Console
  • You must have an administrator role

Step 1: Get the App Download Link

  1. Go to the Devices page in the Appspace Console.
  2. Click the three-line menu in the upper-left corner.
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. Open your browser's developer tools and go to the Network tab.
    • You can do this by right-clicking on the page (not on a link), then selecting Inspect.
  5. Navigate to the Downloads tab within Appspace.
  6. Find and click on the Downloads entry in the developer tools window.
  7. In the new window that appears, select the Preview tab.
    • The second item in the list is the BrightSign app download link.
  8. Expand this item and copy the URL from the downloadUrl field. The URL should look similar to this: https://api.connect.appspace.com/api/v1/appspace/downloads/3c15e481-19e1-44c3-9b00-19328138c327/file

Step 2: Configure the Device Task

  1. On the Appspace console, click the three-line menu in the upper-left corner.
  2. Hover over Devices and select Device Tasks.
  3. From there, select the Advanced Tasks tab at the top.
  4. Click the blue ADD button, then choose BrightSign App Updater from the list.
  5. In the task editor, paste the download URL you copied in the Common Parameters section.
  6. Select the + icon, and check the boxes next to the devices you wish to deploy the update to.
  7. Click the Select button.
  8. Select Save.
