Learn how to manage a Media Zone widget in a Multizone Signage Channel. This article is for Communicators who set playout and audio for a layout zone. After you read this article, you can add the widget and configure its layout editor properties.

Prerequisites

You must be a Publisher for the selected location, channel, or channel group, or have another role that allows you to manage the channel.

Create a Multizone Signage Channel with at least one layout and one zone. See Create a Multizone Signage Channel.
Note: Add cards, media, linked sources, and playlist schedules in Schedule and Source Content in a Media Zone. This article covers widget properties in the layout editor only.
Note: A Media Zone widget opens in the layout editor with five tabs: Edit, Content, Actions, Properties, and Permissions. Playout and audio live on the Edit tab.
Add a Media Zone Widget
Add Media Zone to a zone from the channel Edit tab. Follow the Add Widgets to a Zone steps in Create a Multizone Signage Channel, then select Media Zone from New widgets.
The widget appears in the content list for the selected zone.
Note: Select Existing widgets when you want to reuse a Media Zone widget that already exists in another layout in the same channel.
Configure Media Zone Settings
Media Zone settings that control playout and audio are on the layout editor Edit tab. These labeled fields are the same values as the keys on the Properties tab.

Select Channels from the Appspace menu.

Open the Multizone Signage Channel.

Select the Edit tab.

Select the layout that contains the Media Zone widget.

Select Edit from the layout more options menu.

Select the Media Zone widget.

Select the Edit tab.

Expand Playout or Audio.

Set the fields you need.

Click Save on the layout editor header.
The layout editor opens with the widget selected. The header includes Save.
Tip: Selecting the Media Zone widget on the channel Edit tab opens the zone playlist. To open the layout editor, select Edit from the layout more options menu, or click the + button on the widget and select Open editor.
Playout
Expand Playout on the Edit tab. These fields are the widget defaults for the zone. Per-item Transition, Aspect Ratio, and Duration still live on the zone playlist. See Schedule and Source Content in a Media Zone.

| Transition | The transition used when introducing content. The dropdown is not limited by content type. Options are Use Default, None, Fade, Left Swipe, Right Swipe, Top Swipe, Bottom Swipe, Center Horizontal Expand, Center Vertical Expand, Center Rotate Fade Transition, Fade Equal, Fade Fully, Left Swipe Fade, Right Swipe Fade, Left Switch, Right Switch, Top Switch, Bottom Switch, Left Push, Right Push, Zoom In From Back, Zoom In From Front, Top Push, Bottom Push, Left Rotate, Right Rotate, Cube Left, Cube Right, Cube Up, Cube Down, and Cube Random. |
| Duration | Widget default playback duration. Set days, hours, minutes, and seconds. New widgets default to 12 seconds. Play Forever is not available on this field. Playlist items inherit this value unless the item has its own duration, such as a video file duration in the zone playlist. |
| Playout Order | Ordered or Shuffle. New widgets default to Ordered. |
Note: Playlist items can use Use default on their own Playout Properties to inherit these widget values. Change an individual item in the zone playlist when that item should differ from the widget.
Audio
Expand Audio on the Edit tab. These fields are the widget defaults for the zone. Per-item audio appears on video and audio items in the zone playlist.

| Audio Level | Playback volume from 0 to 100. New widgets default to 100. |
| Closed Captioning | Turns closed captioning or subtitles on or off for video content. The editor does not limit this switch to a device type. |
Use the other Edit accordions for placement and style:

General — Name, Size, Position, Opacity, Animation In, and Animation Out.

Appearance — Background color, background image, border color, thickness, corner radius, and margins.

Code — Widget GUID and Custom CSS.
Note: The Properties tab lists the same settings as searchable key-value pairs. Change the labeled fields on Edit unless you need to add, disable, or delete a key.
Note: Widget actions are configured on the Actions tab. Media Zone events include Media Complete, Media Loaded, and End Of Playlist. Media Zone methods include Next Media and Previous Media.
