BBC News for Digital signage

Hi all,

We’re currently streaming BBC News on a few of our office TVs (BrightSign) using a link from our own server. As we’re moving to the cloud, those servers will be retired.

I’ve been trying to find an alternative, but no luck so far since BBC UK doesn’t provide a streaming link.

Is anyone else streaming live news? If so, what solution are you using?

I’m interested in what “a link from our own server” consists of. What was the architecture like before?

Presumably you were ingesting a BBC signal from a satellite or terrestrial line into a device that was shoving out multicast streams locally.
We just rolled out a similar situation using some Vitec Avedia tuners. We’ve got about 22 HD TV channels, and 23 radio stations that are user selectable.
Get’s a little tricky with multicast traffic across floors and network switches, but once that’s set up, it’s pretty solid. Been on for a month or so now.

You could try creating a web card pointing at the BBC iPlayer, though you may have to physically intervene for pop-ups.
