I'm having issues creating a passport for a Tableau card to show a private visualization on Tableau Server. The error message is benign and not helpful for troubleshooting so wondering if there is any know tips for success.

Hey there! Can you share the error message? It would be good to involve your Tableau admin to confirm all the values in the Passport creation (Client Id, Client Secret Id, etc.)

Confirmed all the connected app cred values on my local machine. AppSpace error is: “An error has occurred while creating the passport. Please try again.” Wondering if AppSpace is only compatible with Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server specifically?

Ah, that is indeed a cryptic error. Maybe there’s something blocked via firewall or proxy from your datacenter network(s) since it’s on-prem? If you’ve already allowed Appspace requirements on your corporate network, there could still be restrictions on your datacenter network. Maybe confirm whitelisting with your network/cyber teams for specifically datacenters.

Also, you could be onto something that Appspace only works with Tableau Cloud as their documentation doesn’t mention on-prem: Cards: Display Tableau Dashboard | Community

@NewGUY202 hello!  Thank you for joining the community.  I reached out to a colleague to confirm what we support and he let me know that we support Cloud only. Tableau On-Prem would require custom work (a Custom Card) via Professional Services.

We do support both Public and Private Dashboards.  I have attached the release notes and he also thought the article that @Eric Ippoliti attached would be helpful to you.

If you require further custom work, please let me know and I will be sure to get you in touch with the right person.
