The Modernized Signage Channel Experience
The modernized Signage Channel experience introduces a more unified way to create, manage, and publish digital signage in Appspace. The update is designed to simplify common signage workflows while continuing to support both full-screen playlist experiences and more advanced multi-zone layouts.
This experience begins rolling out with the 2603.1 release in July. Existing channels will be transitioned automatically according to each customer's release schedule. The modernization is intended to keep Appspace aligned with evolving user needs.
The overview video explains what is changing, why the experience is being modernized, and how full-screen and multi-zone channel workflows are evolving.
Overview
Today, customers may use different channel types depending on the type of signage experience they need to build. Playlist Channels are commonly used for full-screen signage, while Advanced Channels support more complex layouts, widgets, and interactive experiences.
The modernized Signage Channel experience brings these workflows together under a more unified foundation. This gives customers a clearer path to start with simple signage and expand into more advanced experiences as their needs change.
What's Changing
The modernized experience is designed to make digital signage workflows easier to learn, faster to use, and more flexible over time.
- Unified signage foundation: Full-screen and multi-zone workflows are part of the same modernization effort.
- Refreshed user interface: Common channel tasks are presented in a simpler, more modern experience.
- Simpler full-screen channel creation: Customers can create and manage full-screen playlist-style experiences more directly.
- Continued support for advanced experiences: Multi-zone layouts, widgets, and interactive signage workflows remain supported.
- More direct content access: Customers can work with templates, uploads, Library content, generated content, and linked sources from the channel workflow.
The updated workflow also brings common tasks closer together, including channel setup, content selection, scheduling, previewing, and publishing.

What This Means for Existing Channels
Customers do not need to take immediate action as part of this modernization.
- Existing channels: Existing channels will be transitioned automatically according to the customer's release schedule, such as Public Cloud or Weekly Private.
- Legacy Advanced Channels: Legacy Advanced Channels will be modernized first.
- Current Playlist Channels: Current Playlist Channels will remain as-is. Customers can still create and publish Playlist Channels to users and apps.
- Full-screen and multi-zone workflows: Both workflow types are included in the modernization effort.
- Enablement resources: Additional documentation, enablement materials, and training will accompany the release.
How Signage Workflows Can Evolve
A team might begin with a full-screen playlist for announcements, media, or scheduled communications. Over time, that same signage experience can grow into richer multi-zone layouts, linked content sources, widgets, and more advanced behaviors.
This approach helps customers move from simple communication workflows to more sophisticated digital signage experiences without rethinking the entire process from the beginning.
Rollout and Additional Resources
The modernized Signage Channel experience begins rolling out with the 2603.1 release in July. Rollout timing depends on each customer's release schedule.
Appspace is continuing to gather feedback to refine the experience, validate real-world workflows, and prepare for broader availability. Additional enablement materials, documentation, and training will be shared as the experience continues to mature.
