Why content portrait orientation not saved or displayed in preview?

I had previously created content using landscape orientation but had to change it to portrait after being informed the digital sign is veritcal.

So went to the Appspace library to make the change.

In Appspace library editing content the switch orientation flips or switches orientation from landscape to portrait but it does not save the switch set.  Why?

Also the preview does not show it in portrait orientation.

Is the thumbnail icon in the library supposed to show the portrait orientation?

Any ideas or thoughts why the Appspace portal does this?

@tsaucedo the Library thumbnail may still appear in landscape (16:9), even when your content is set up for portrait playback. We’re tracking improvements to better reflect content orientation in thumbnails and provide more consistent orientation defaults.

Changing the orientation setting does not rotate or reformat an uploaded image or video. Could you confirm whether you’re using an AI Canvas card, another card type, an image, a video, or web content? If it’s an uploaded asset, please also confirm that the original file is portrait.

We recommend checking playback on the target device and confirming that the channel, zone, and device are configured for portrait. If the Portrait setting changes after you save, close, and reopen the content, please let us know so we can help determine the next steps.

Ah ok.

I used a template Announcement card. Thought it would be nice to have the card/content show the correct orientation in the library.

After the being informed the digital sign would be vertical, I changed the device’s orientation and saw the content was displaying correctly even though it’s landscape. Good to see that it adjusted correctly.

Just would like to see the true orientation being displayed for that channel.in the preview of the channel and the location’s library to prevent confusion to the user when managing their own location’s content.

I even tried the “Edit” for the content and selecting “Switch orientation” and changing the layout to “Vertical Split Text and Media” and hit “Save” but no change.

@tsaucedo thanks for confirming—and for explaining how you’re using the Announcement card. Glad to hear it’s displaying correctly on the vertical screen!

I can see how the landscape previews in the channel and location’s Library would cause confusion, especially after changing the card’s orientation and layout. Improving how previews reflect the intended orientation is already being tracked, and your example helps illustrate why it matters. We don’t have a timeline to share yet.
