I am having a issue where I have a channel assigned to a new Tizen 7.0 device and when I put the single card onto the channel, which will be the only thing that is on this channel/device. It will display the content for its 30 second image duration and then will go black then come back. I am wanting to know how to set this up so this will be on constant nonstop without it moving or changing. I just need the card to be on display and not change. I don’t want it to be on display and move to a duplicate card or have a duplicate within the imported PowerPoint. It is operating on 2.91.

I can move to a Bright sign if this resolves the issue but would like to utilize the point of buying a digital signage display with Samsung Tizen (Custom App).

Hello @aaron.burgard! When a playlist only has a single content item it will basically treat that item’s duration as a “refresh”. Instead of loading the next item in the playlist when that duration passes it will reload the content (as there is no “next” item).

You mentioned PowerPoint; are you using the automatic PowerPoint conversion card or are you saving the PowerPoint as a .mp4 and uploading that?

@aaron.burgard hello! In checking with the team, it sounds like the device is experiencing a 'gap' or 'blink' during the asset reload phase. Since this is the only item in your channel, the most immediate fix is to extend the asset's playback life so the player doesn't have to cycle the content.

1. Immediate Workaround: Extend Duration Go to the Card Playout Properties and change the duration from 30 seconds to 24 hours (or the maximum allowed). This ensures the card remains static on the screen without the player attempting to refresh or loop the content, which should eliminate the black screen interval.

2. Troubleshooting & Technical Context To help us identify why the Tizen 7.0 (v2.91) player isn't looping seamlessly, could you clarify the following:

  • Card Type: What specific card type are you using (e.g., Image card, Web card, or a PowerPoint import)?
  • Media Heavy Assets: Does the card contain embedded video or high-resolution animations that might be taxing the cache?
  • Scope of Issue: Does this black-screen blink occur if you test a simple, low-res JPEG in a separate test channel?
  • App Firmware: While the device is Tizen 7.0, could you verify the specific Samsung firmware version? Sometimes a firmware update is required to fix playback buffer issues on newer SoC (System on Chip) models.

Regarding BrightSign: While BrightSign players are known for superior seamless looping, your Samsung Tizen 7.0 display is more than capable of handling a static card. Moving to BrightSign shouldn't be necessary once the duration is adjusted.
