Question

player.play.themesettings.home.channelrows.count not adding rows to channel groups

I am using the property player.play.themesettings.home.channelrows.count for a channel group.  No matter what I put in there, I only ever get 1 row.  I have 10 channels in the group.  However, player.play.themesettings.home.channelcolumns.count works just fine. I would like to be able to just scroll up and down, and not have to do left an right.  And if I make the columns too narrow, it is hard to see the icon.

I have coppied and paste the settings names and I have checked for additional space, it all seems fine.

Hello Adam,

My name is Jeter and I’m a Strategic Account Manager here at Appspace.

I’ve replicated your issue, albeit with different results, and you are correct that player.play.themesettings.home.channelrows.count doesn’t seem to be functioning as intended. I used both 10 individual channels, as well as 1 channel group with 10 channels for the testing. My device I tested with was a BrightSign XT1145 on Firmware 9.0.211 and Appspace App 2.93.0.

What I found was that using only player.play.themesettings.home.channelrows.count and providing any number for the value was essentially null and not respected. Instead of one row however, I had all of my Channels ‘pushed’ towards the bottom of the Channel Browsing page leaving quite a bit of empty space. This is more than likely a bug, and I’ll want to test on a few other supported Device Models. When you are next available, please submit a case to the Customer Care team with your examples and device models / names and we’ll happily take on that engagement and move it forward.

I was also successful in using the Columns Device Property like you experienced. When using only player.play.themesettings.home.channelcolumns.count with values 1-5, the Channel Columns on my device was scrollable vertically and I was able to view them effectively.

Enabling both Rows and Columns on my device has resulted in the same behavior as only running Columns. Though I am not experiencing a Horizontal Scroll bar with my device. Instead I’m seeing the channels ‘wrap’ to fit within the screen.

Please let us know your thoughts and I’ll keep an eye out for a case for this issue.

Kind regards,
Ken Jeter
