Create and publish posts in Employee View to share text, media, files, and links with employees.

Authors, Publishers, and Account Owners can configure publishing, social, Featured, and Spotlight Targeting settings before publishing a post.

This article provides the instructions to create and configure posts in Employee View.

Prerequisites

  • Account Owner, Publisher, or Author permissions with publishing access to the destination space.
  • Access to Employee View.
  • At least one available community or channel where the post can be published.
  • Supported media file types:
    • Images: JPEG, PNG, and GIF
    • Video: MP4

Create a Post

Follow the instructions below to create a post in Employee View:

  1. Log in to Appspace.
  2. Open Employee View.
  3. From Home, click the What do you want to share? field.
  4. In the Share with field, select the community or channel where the post will be published.
  5. Open Settings to configure the available post settings:
    • Spaces – Select one or more spaces where the post will be published.
    • Tags – Add relevant tags to categorize the post.
    • Schedule – Publish the post immediately or configure a publishing schedule.
    • Author – Select the author displayed on the post, when available.
    • Feature & Spotlight – Configure Featured and Spotlight Targeting settings.
    • Social features – Configure reactions, comments, and sharing for the post.
  6. Enter the post content.
  7. Click the Files icon to upload a file, if required.
  8. Click the Media icon to add an image or video, if required.
  9. Click Post.

The post is published to the selected space and displayed in Employee View.

Note: Only Account Owners can select a different author for a post. The Author setting is hidden when the required permissions are not available.

Configure Spotlight Targeting

Spotlight Targeting identifies which employees a post is most relevant to without changing who can access the post.

Follow the instructions below to configure Spotlight Targeting:

  1. In the post editor, open Settings.
  2. Click Feature & Spotlight.
  3. Under Spotlight For, click the Search audiences, groups, or locations field.
  4. Search for and select one or more:
    • Audiences
    • User groups
    • Locations
  5. Return to the post editor and continue configuring or publishing the post.

When multiple Spotlight targets are selected, an employee matching any selected target is considered relevant to the post. Posts without a Spotlight target are considered relevant to everyone.

Note:

  • Spotlight Targeting does not override space permissions. Employees must already have access to the space containing the post.
  • Featured controls the prominence of a post, while Spotlight Targeting identifies the audiences for whom the post is most relevant.

Mention People and Content

Mentions allow supported people and content to be referenced directly within a post.

Follow the instructions below to add a mention:

  1. Create or edit a post.
  2. In the post content, type @ followed by the name or title of the item to mention.
  3. Select the matching item from the suggestions.
  4. Continue editing the post, and then publish the post.

Supported mentions include:

  • People
  • Communities
  • Topics
  • Channels
  • Pages
  • Stories
  • Events
  • Resources

After the post is published, mentioned items are highlighted and can be selected to open the related content. People who are mentioned receive a notification in Employee View.

Add Link Previews to Posts

Link Previews provide a visual summary of supported internal content directly within a post.

Follow the instructions below to add a Link Preview:

  1. Create or edit a post.
  2. Paste a supported internal Appspace link into the post content.
  3. Wait for the Link Preview to generate automatically.
  4. Review the generated preview.
  5. Continue editing the post, and then publish the post.

A generated Link Preview can include:

  • Title
  • Thumbnail
  • Description
  • Share Post option, when supported
