Learn how to create a Space from a template in Appspace. This article is for IT Administrators and Communicators who need a new intranet Space. After you finish, you have a new Space based on the template you selected.

Prerequisites

Access to Spaces in the Appspace console.

Permission to create Spaces. An Account Owner sets Who can create spaces? in Spaces > Settings > Permissions. The choices are Account owners, Publishers, and Everyone.

At least one Space Template you are allowed to use, unless you create a blank Space.
When you cannot create Spaces, Create Space is hidden. You do not get an error after clicking it.
Create a Space from a Template

Log in to the Appspace console.

Open Quick Actions and click Create Space. You can also click Create Space in the Spaces directory.
The Create Space window opens.

Optional: Type in Search templates to narrow the list.

Under the templates, click the card that matches the job of the Space.

Enter the Space name.

Click Create.
The console opens the new Space with settings on General. In the admin console this is the edit modal on General. The Space starts with that template's sections and default settings. Change them on the Space after it is created.
Channel is its own card in this window. It is not a Space template. The built-in template cards are:

Topic — Organize structured knowledge for easy access.

Site — Centralize essential resources into one place.

Project — Track progress around a shared goal.

Newsroom — Keep everyone in the loop with company updates.

Community — Collaborate across teams, projects, or initiatives.

Blog — Share personal updates or perspectives.
Your account can also show templates an administrator added. A disabled template is omitted from this list. On a platform version later than 2603.4, with Spaces enabled, Community and Topic are not offered as separate create cards. Channel stays its own card.
Create from the Appspace app

In the Appspace app, click +.

Click Space.

Select a template, enter the Space name, and click Create.
The Space opens with General settings. On a narrow screen, Space can be hidden in the + menu even when you are allowed to create Spaces. Use a wide window.
Create a Blank Space

In the Create Space window, click Blank Space.

Enter the Space name.

Select a Space Type.

Click Create.
Use a blank Space when no template matches the layout you need.
Create from a template row

Go to Spaces > Settings > Space Templates.

Open the actions menu on the template row.

Click Create Space.
This starts a Space from that template and skips the template picker. Enter the Space name and click Create.
