With the World Cup kicking off, I spent the weekend building a few Appspace components that show live scores right where people already are: on the intranet and on digital signage. They're free to grab and drop in. Here's what you can do and how to add them.

What I made

Three pieces, split across the two Appspace surfaces:

Component

Where it runs

What it shows

World Cup Games

🧩 Widget — Intranet / Employee App

Live scores, kick-off times and results, browse day by day, goal scorers, and a tap-through match view with line-ups

World Cup Tables

🧩 Widget — Intranet / Employee App

All 12 group standings, points and goal difference, tap a team for its results and fixtures

World Cup Live Scores

📺 Card — Digital Signage

A full-screen scoreboard for screens: today's fixtures, a big live view when a match is on, plus up-next and recent results

How it works

  • Live data, no setup. Scores come straight from a free public feed (ESPN) and refresh on their own, faster while a match is in play.

  • Fits anywhere. Works from a narrow sidebar to a full-screen 16:9 or portrait 9:16 display, and on phone, desktop and signage.

  • Lightweight. Plain HTML/JS, no accounts or API keys to manage.

Where to get it

Everything's open on GitHub, with the ready-to-upload ZIPs in the repo:

🔗github.com/AppspaceEurope/world-cup-widgets

Grab the latest ZIPs: (Versions may get updated so click the link above if these ones don't work)

How to add them

Widgets (Games & Tables) → Intranet / Employee App

  1. In the Appspace Console, go to Settings → Widgets.

  2. Click Import and choose the widget .zip.

  3. Add the widget to a homepage or community and (optionally) tweak the settings. Every option has a sensible default, so it works out of the box.

Card (Live Scores) → Digital Signage

  1. In the Console Content Library, upload world-cup-scores-card-1.0.0.zip
    .
  2. Add the card to a signage channel or playlist (remember to update the playlist so it actually plays 🙂).

  3. Drop it on a full screen or a media zone. No configuration needed.

⚠️ A quick heads-up ⚠️

This is a fun side project that I did, not an official Appspace product. There is no warranty or support, and because the data comes from a free public feed, it could change or stop at any time. You're very welcome to take the code, adapt it, or build on it.

Enjoy the football and come on England 🏆

Hi Nathalie,

Thank you for your message. This is currently only in the Appspace platform, unfortunately. The Beezy equivalent may take some work. But you’re free to download the code and see if you can “vibe” it into existence. Maybe..? Unfortunately, it would require someone with much greater knowledge than me to port this over there.

Super cool.

I put the scores card up on multiple screens in our demo lab and, unfortunately, all we get are blank screens,

Brightsign XT1145 (BSFW 9.1.92.1 ASA 2.95.0)

Brightsign XC2055 (BSFW 9.1.93.2 ASA 2.97.0)

The XC2055 is in portrait, and an unusual aspect ratio so I gave that one a fair pass. The XT1145 is running on a basic 1080p screen on my desk.

@lordtrackball thanks for posting that information @Mike Gibbs is out right now, but will take a look at it when he gets back.  Apologize for the delay, but he is really the passionate architect behind this.⚽
