Administrators can update eligible Web View Cards to the latest published template without recreating them. An update keeps the card configuration, the URL, channel publishing, and device assignments.

What’s in this article:
Note: This update applies to Web View Cards only. Other card types are not updated in place. Appspace does not update cards automatically, and a card cannot be rolled back to an earlier template.
Prerequisites

Account Owner or Location Admin role, with permission to manage Library content and channel content.

Appspace Platform 2603.4.0 or later.

At least one Web View Card already in the Library.
Check Version Status
Version Status on a Web View Card is one of the following:

Update Available — an eligible Web View Card uses an older template and no update is running.
-
Updating… — an update is running.
-
Update Failed — the most recent update failed.
-
Up to Date — the card uses the latest published template.
-
New Version Available — a supported non-Web View Card has a newer template and cannot be updated in place.
Where Badges Appear

Sort by Version Status

How Status Changes

Up to Date changes to Update Available when a newer template is published.

Update Available changes to Updating… when an update starts.
-
Updating… changes to Up to Date when the update succeeds.
-
Updating… changes to Update Failed when the update fails.
-
A retry after Update Failed returns the card to Updating….
Update Web View Cards from Library or a Channel
Update Web View Cards from Library or from a channel content list. The card stays in place.

Log in to the Appspace console.
-
Open Library from the ☰ Appspace menu, or open the content list for the Playlist Channel or Signage Channel that contains the card.

Find each Web View Card whose Version Status is Update Available or Update Failed.

Open the three-dot menu.
-
Select Update Card Version.
You can also start the same update by clicking the Update Available or Update Failed badge.
Update Several Web View Cards

Select the cards.
-
Select Update Card Version on the bulk-action bar.
Review Card Updates
-
Lists how many eligible Web View Cards will update.

Lists how many selected items are excluded when the selection is mixed.

Select Continue to start the update.
-
Select Cancel to leave the cards unchanged.
After the Update Starts
-
Each card shows Updating….
-
A successful update shows Up to Date.
-
A failed update shows Update Failed.
-
Card configuration, URL, channel publishing, and device assignments stay the same.
While an Update Is Running
While a card shows Updating…, playback of the published version continues. Refreshing the page keeps the Updating… badge.
Library. The card is disabled in list view and grid view. You cannot select it for a bulk action, start another update, add it to a channel, preview it in a new tab, rename it, assign Content Tags or an Expiry Date, download it, copy it, or delete it.
Playlist Channel and Signage Channel. You cannot open the card by clicking its name. You can still edit playout properties, and use the three-dot menu to change the card sequence, disable the card, or remove it from the channel.
When Update Card Version Is Unavailable

The card is Up to Date.
-
No selected item is eligible for a bulk update.
Mixed Selections
-
Only eligible Web View Cards are updated.
-
Ineligible selected items stay unchanged.

New Version Available does not start an update.
Update Web View Cards with the Library Assistant
Update Web View Cards in bulk from Library. The assistant uses the same update as a manual bulk update and keeps configuration, the URL, channel publishing, and device assignments.
Note: The Library Assistant is available in Library only. It is not available from Playlist Channels or Signage Channels.

Open Library from the ☰ Appspace menu.

Open the Library Assistant.

Ask the assistant Find outdated Web View Cards in this Library or Show me where my outdated Web View Cards are published.

Review the summary of eligible cards and excluded items.

Confirm the update.
The assistant does not show a live progress bar. Each card shows Updating…, then Up to Date or Update Failed.
